A Worldly Event

We love Felicity and Craig's stunning wedding, captured by one of Canberra's very talented photographer's Kelly Tunney. We featured this goregous wedding in the latest Canberra edition of The Bride's Diary.

Felicity & Craig Page • 28th April, 2011

Felicity met Craig in London in 2005. Craig worked for an advertising agency, while Felicity was working for Tourism Australia, one of Craig’s clients. The pair became friends and stayed in touch even after their professional relationship came to an end.

A couple of years later, they started to date, but it wasn’t until 2009 that Felicity eventually persuaded Craig to make the trip to Australia to meet her parents. Our sun and wide-open spaces won Craig over completely and the couple decided to make their stay permanent.

Hamilton Island is one of Felicity’s favourite places, and the pair was holidaying there when Craig popped the question – they had just finished a succulent seafood dinner when Craig asked Felicity to marry him. An ecstatic Felicity said ‘yes’ and happily told their waiter the great news when he returned to their table. His response of: ‘So, is there anything else you want to order?’ resulted in a celebratory bottle of champagne.

Felicity and Craig agree that their wedding day was a very special occasion. They invited their family and best friends from both sides of the globe, and enjoyed the day so much that they didn’t want it to end.

After spending a leisurely morning getting ready with her bridesmaids, Felicity arrived at the church in which she had been christened, and where Craig was now waiting for her. After an emotional ceremony, the couple’s guests were transported to the wonderful specialist reception venue, the Sergeants’ Mess.

The reception began with canapés and drinks, while the couple’s favourite pop songs were played on acoustic guitar. Reflecting their love of travel, the reception tables were named after their favourite places around the world. Not surprisingly, the bridal table was aptly named Hamilton Island.

Each guest’s place setting included a uniquely flavoured macaroon and a carefully selected vintage postcard. Each card was decorated with a customised stamp featuring a photo of Felicity and Craig, ready for their guests to ‘post’ words of advice, wisdom and good wishes in a delightful birdcage mailbox.

A delicious entree and main course were followed by speeches that evoked both laughter and tears. Then came Craig’s pre-recorded DJ set, complete with a “brilliantly cheesy” lightshow and delivered by a life-size cardboard cut out of the groom, which was a huge success and filled the dance floor.
