"After more than a decade working in the local public service in my home town of Canberra, I was forced to leave work to care for my oldest son who was diagnosed with a rare tumour in his spine and suffers with associated post surgical medical issues.
I have always dabbled in catering and party styling, organising several family and friends weddings and special events. Once the home front settled down and we got used to my son's medical care requirements, I found myself longing to get out of the house and do something! It had been a long, hard and stressful road with my precious son but there was light at the end of the tunnel and it was time for me to move ahead.
A party styling and catering business had been the topic of many conversations with my best friend, and with my love of all things vintage and baking, Swish Vintage Canberra was born. The Canberra community welcomed our unique vintage styling and mobile tea party business with open arms and bookings have been through the roof!
We host Vintage Tea Parties, Shabby Chic or formal High Tea style, with or without catering. We also do little girls' tea parties with a trunk of vintage dresses, hats,
gloves and pearls with old fashioned party food that my Nanna used to make for
us as children.
My real passion is weddings, the amazing buzz you get when you've done your job and made someone's day that extra bit special, is reward enough on its own, with the bonus of a pay cheque! To do something you adore as a career is a fantastic feeling.
Our weddings have received rave reviews and led to many bookings, word of mouth has been the strongest form of advertising we could ever have hoped for! The Canberra business community is an amazing support network for newcomers, with many businesses offering support, advice and cross promotion.
It feels as though my business and my son keep going from strength to strength and my greatest pleasure is watching and helping my "babies" grow and blossom."

A Shot Above the Rest Photographers Favourite Wedding:
"When I met Sarah and Roberto, they were both so excited to be marrying each other. They were so deliriously happy on their wedding day, surrounded by great friends, and loving family; it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. Sarah and Roberto were marreid on 10/11/12, a lucky date and the perfect time of year to celebrate in Canberra. I love this photo because like most of my images, the love and the emotion are captured as they actually happen, not staged, not on cue, just when you least expect it, and more often than not, it ends up being ‘a shot above the rest’."

Thierry from Nomad Photography is featured in the latest edition of The Bride's Diary Canberra. One of his favourite experiences photographing a couple on their wedding day, is that of the wedding of Jessica and Mark Goggin. Thierry explains:
"Being the official wedding photographer is a daunting task and truly capturing the real emotion is not something everyone can do. May I say, I have that gift. I always fall in love with my couples and their wedding and being part of their wedding day is always a special moment in my career, from one wedding to another.
When I was asked to pick a favourite wedding, I could not decide and wanted to pick them all. They all are my favourites. Rather than picking a favourite wedding, I thought I’d pick some favourite images from a recent wedding that I really enjoyed capturing: the wedding of Jessica and Mark Goggin.
With the resulting images, you can read the story of each bride; her whole life preparing for the special day. From making sure that everything is perfect, through to the moment they both exchange vows at the altar, become husband and wife and walk the path of their new life together.
Wedding photography is not just about taking photos, it’s about seizing the real emotion of each instant and we all know that real emotion, the real moments are those that last a split of a second. Seeing that moment will allow you to capture an everlasting photograph." - Thierry Nguyen of Nomad Photography
